Energy efficient appliances:-

The following Companies follow best practice sustainability and manufacture energy efficient appliances with high energy ratings:-

Rinnai Dry Soft® Gas Dryers

Combine large 4kg or 6kg capacities with the efficient heating power of gas. Not only do they dry in around 1/2 the time, they also produce around 1/2 the greenhouse emmissions of electric dryers and cost about half as much to run.

Panasonic

Named as one of the most Sustainable companies of the world, Panasonic have developed a whole range of new products that are energy efficient products.

Panasonic estimates that it is possible to reduce CO2 emissions from a household by 65% in three-to-five years by increasing the energy efficiency of devices and reducing the power consumption of the entire house.

As one of the first major corporations to take environmental issues and concerns seriously, Panasonic believes in practising what it preaches. The company’s Environmental Statement pledges that it will practise prudent, sustainable use of the earth’s natural resources and the protection of our environment.

Professor Tim Flannery, Panasonic Chair in Environmental Sustainability, Macquarie University, said ‘getting consumers to buy green, as well as think green was critical to improving environmental outcomes'.

“Awareness of environmental issues is extremely high and our next challenge is to turn that into everyday action, People are going to continue to purchase and use products such as consumer electronics and need to make sure they’re making the best possible decisions.” Professor Tim Flannery, Panasonic Chair in Environmental Sustainability, Macquarie University.

Fisher & Paykel

Long before the words sustainability and global warming became commonplace, Fisher & Paykel has been committed to environmentally responsible processes, right across its operations.

This commitment has delivered countless innovations in energy saving. Fisher & Paykel's factories now produce over a million energy-saving appliances a year.

Energy saving features adopted by Fisher & Paykel on appliances include adaptive defrost mechanisms, that activate only when needed in refrigeration and intelligent electronics and unique direct drive motor in Smart Drive™ washing machines.

Since day one Fisher & Paykel refrigerators have used additional insulation to what is required so that less energy is consumed when the fridge is running. The company has also committed to not using materials that are scarce or energy hungry.

In addition to designing energy efficiency into appliances, Fisher & Paykel has incorporated water-saving features, and now some of its top-loading machines are at least as water efficient as front loading machines

Samsung

In 2004, Samsung developed and set up the Eco-Design Assessment system. This system manages product’s compliance with environmental criteria developed based on resource efficiency, energy efficiency and eco-friendly materials.

This system ensures that our products and devices such as LCD and semiconductor to comply with the global environmental regulations as well as satisfies consumer demands for eco-friendly products. Samsung is also launching various innovative eco-products in the market and increasing the acquisition of global eco-labels and energy labels through the eco-design management system.

In 2009, we further upgraded our Eco-Design management system, introducing the eco-rating system for all developed products. This assigns each newly developed product an eco-rating (Eco-Product, Good Eco-Product, or Premium Eco-Product) based on strict evaluation criteria.

Samsung has set a goal to ensure 100% of products exceed Good Eco-Product criteria by 2013. This will include introducing eco-friendly evaluation for products in the R&D stage, enhancing energy efficiency, and increasing the use of recyclable and eco-friendly materials.
