Modtank
There's something about this water tank that appeals to that Lego-obsessed kid inside. Designed by Aussie brothers, Stephen and Martin Collis – both mechanical engineers – Modtank is a versatile, modular urban water storage unit.
The 77-litre tanks fit together much like Lego&trade blocks, or those neat little freezer ice cubes, and can be fitted upright at 50cm in height or on their side at 30cm – making them versatile and allowing them to take advantage of under-utilised space.
"The light-weight modules connect together using a patented interlocking spigot and recess that permits water circulation between each part, while assuring stability as a complete tank," says co-inventor Martin Collis.
Despite the obvious environmental benefits of capturing rain water, the Modtank system is manufactured using a blow-moulded process, using half the energy of regular tank production.
